What is Pedorthics? Pedorthics is the management and treatment of conditions of the foot, ankle, and lower extremities requiring fitting, fabricating, and adjusting of pedorthic devices. Pedorthics uses footwear to help ease and treat these foot-related problems.

People throughout their lifetime will experience some type of foot problem. It may be as simple as a blister or a callus and some more complicated, which may require hospitalization. Most foot problems are relatively minor in nature if caught early.

As a part of the allied health care team, a Certified Pedorthist (C.Ped.) designs, manufactures, modifies and dispenses footwear and orthoses to keep people as mobile as possible.  Medical evaluation and treatment are not always required for orthotics, but may be needed only to make the shoes function better. Most certified pedorthists work primarily on prescription foot-wear and custom orthotics. C.Peds often refer patients to health care providers to prevent major foot problems. A pedorthist can help make a huge difference in your quality of life.
